Rudy Berumen

VARSITY HEAD COACH

Coach Berumen is entering his 22nd year of coaching football and his first as a head coach. After he finished playing at Central Methodist University, he began coaching linebackers at CMU. Upon returning home to California in 2002, he began coaching high school football where he has been a defensive coordinator for a total of17 years. Coach Berumen has coached at several local high schools where he has been part of multiple league championships, playoff appearances, and a CIF championship in 2018 at South Hills High School.Coach Berumen and his wife Lori have been married for 24 years. They have 3 children Rudy (19), Gabriel (18), and Jocelyn (14)

Ray Shirley

SAFETIES

Coach Ray Shirley is in his first year coaching here at Los Osos high school. He has coached high school varsity football for 4 years. He loves the game of football, and everything that comes with it. After high school Ray was fortunate enough to play college football at William Penn University. His goal in coaching is to help young athletes stay on track while chasing whatever goals they may have.

Lyndon Cleghorne

CORNERS/INSIDE RECEIVERS

Coach Cleghorne is coaching his first year at Los Osos, but he has been coaching different levels of football for the past 33 years.  He has coached Pop Warner and Junior All-American.  At the high school level he has coached at Claremont, Colony, Chino Hills, South Hills, and Damien high schools.  He has experience coaching OL/DL, CB/WR, and special teams – Gunners and Returners.  He has also coached Track at South Hills and Damien.  Coach Cleghorne went to school at New York Technical College.  He is married to his wife, Rachel, and they have 3 children, Danielle, Jelani, and Salim.  Coach Cleghorne’s words of inspiration: Fundamentals and effort is the doorway to your success.

Mike Randall

VARSITY OL

Coach Randall is excited to start his 19th year at Los Osos High School. He is a 1995 graduate of Rancho Cucamonga High School. He attended Chaffey College and Azusa Pacific University and completed his B.A. in Social Science in 1999 and his Masters in Special Education in 2004. While at Azusa Pacific, Coach Randall started at center and guard and won a National Championship in1998. Coach Randall began his coaching career at Rancho Cucamonga High School from 2000 to 2001. He then went on to San Bernardino Valley College from 2001-2003. In 2004 Coach Randall started coaching offensive line at Los Osos High School. In 22 years of coaching he has been the offensive coordinator at Los Osos as well as offensive line coach. In 2001 Coach Randall married his high school love Kim. They have two children, Madison (18), and Mikey(15)

Gio Russo

OUTSIDE RECEIVERS

Coach Russo was a 3 year Varsity letterman for Los Osos High School which included recognition as Freshman MVP and Sophomore Interception Leader. He played varsity for Damien High School as an inside linebacker.He has coached Rancho Pop Warner and Fontana Skyhawks Junior All-American.

DeWayne Gatti

FRESHMAN COACH

Coach Gatti played football at Bonita High School and continued playing for 2 years at Mt. San Antonio Community College. He received a football scholarship from McKendree University where he played 2 years and holds multiple receiving records. After college, Coach Gatti returned to Bonita as the Varsity and JV receiver coach. He coached at Bonita for 6 years and was the offensive coordinator for 1 year. Coach Gatti’s favorite football team is the Raiders.

Danny Pierce

FRESHMAN COACH

Coach Pierce is a Los Osos alumni and played for Coach Randall from 2010-2014. In 2013 he was the offensive line MVP. Coach Pierce returned to Los Osos in 2021 as a freshman coach. He is looking forward to seeing the players accomplish their goals this season based on their hard work in both the weight room and on the field.
